Answers to common questions about eSIM for Chinese cars (Qatar)
In short
KitSim issues a Chinese +86 number for owners of Chinese cars. It is needed because the brand apps (Li Auto, Zeekr, BYD, Chery, Geely, Voyah, Avatr and others) send the confirmation code to Chinese numbers only — the SMS never reaches a number from another country. The same number opens the car's master account: app access, remote functions and updates.
The number is managed: its SIM card stays on our side. Nothing has to be installed — no eSIM support in the phone, no QR code, no WeChat; any smartphone works. SMS from China arrive in an app on your phone. The number is issued in your own name against your foreign passport: first and last name in Latin letters plus the passport number — no document photos and no selfie are required. Issuance takes from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

How is this different from a tourist SIM card bought in China?
A tourist SIM is issued for the trip and usually to somebody else's name — it does not fit the master account, because the number has to stay in your name for as long as you use the car app. Our number is issued to your foreign passport, is valid for 1 year and is renewable.
What happens if I do not renew in time?
Access to the car's account is lost: the confirmation code is delivered to that number only. That is why we remind you two months before the expiry date — so that neither the number nor the app access is lost.
Does it work for a used car?
Yes. If the master account still belongs to the previous owner and they are unreachable, access is recovered onto a new +86 number issued to the buyer. The previous owner does not have to take part.
Do I need the car next to me? Does the number work in my country?
The car does not have to be nearby and the country does not matter — the code arrives in the app on your phone. Terms for Qatar: timing — from 30 min, payment — Card, Apple Pay, Bank Transfer.
Will WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram work on this number?
No: those services do not accept Chinese numbers. The number is made for Chinese car apps and also works for WeChat, Alipay, Taobao and similar Chinese services.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
Issuance — 240 QR, annual renewal — 130 QR/year. Payment in Qatar: Card, Apple Pay, Bank Transfer. We check compatibility with your car before issuance: if the number does not fit, the money is refunded.
